A hot tub is one of the most exciting forms of entertainment, allowing you to enjoy the contrast between heat and cold – and to relax completely. However, in order for the hot tub to serve you for a long time and provide a pleasant experience, it is important to follow some basic principles regarding its use and maintenance.
The right water temperature in the tub
To ensure comfort and safety, the recommended water temperature in the hot tub is 32–39 °C.
The water temperature should not exceed 48 °C.
In winter, after a sauna, you can enjoy a gentle cooling down in a hot tub with a water temperature of around 25 °C.
In summer, the tub can be used without additional heating, especially if you want to cool down pleasantly.
For additional relaxation, you can add your own herbs, sea salt or essential oils to the water, creating a particularly pleasant atmosphere.
Heating the tub stove
To heat the water, the tub must be heated with dry wood, such as birch or alder.
Avoid using coniferous or oak wood, and never use coal, as it can damage the stove.
During the first two hours, heat the stove actively to maintain a steady flame.
In the third hour, the fire can be maintained by adding wood less frequently.
It is important not to overheat the tub, as this can cause the water temperature to rise too high.
Cleaning the tub and changing the water
You can use water from wells, boreholes, or natural water bodies. If you use water from a natural water body, it is recommended to change it after each use.
Fiberglass tubs: After use, completely empty the water and rinse the tub. You can use a high-pressure washer or non-abrasive cleaning agents. It is recommended to use tub care products for disinfection.
Wooden tubs: During the warm season, wooden tubs should always contain water to prevent them from drying out and cracking. If the water stands for a long time, it should be changed and the walls of the tub should be washed regularly. A high-pressure washer will be a great help in this process.
Tub in winter – particularly important precautions
When the temperature drops below zero, you must prevent the water in the tub from freezing. When water freezes, it expands, which can damage the tub's lining, wooden walls, or even the heating and massage systems.
