At first glance, there does not seem to be much difference between a hydromassage system and an air massage system in a hot tub. Both systems provide jet massage in the hot tub. But if you look a little deeper, you will quickly realize that there are some significant differences between a hydromassage system and an air massage system. The main difference between the two massage systems is the mechanism of the jets. Simply put, a hydromassage uses water jets, while an air massage system uses air jets. The most noticeable difference is the sensation. A hot tub with a hydromassage system is equipped with classic, high-pressure, deep-massaging jets, which most people associate with hydrotherapy. In contrast, a hot tub with an air massage system has many air jets instead of a few concentrated jets, which shoot out millions of massaging bubbles. It is a gentler sensation, but also very relaxing.

The second difference between a hot tub with a hydromassage system and an air massage system is maintenance. Both are relatively easy to clean. To clean the hydromassage system, simply add a cleaning agent and run the system for a few minutes. For hot tubs with an air massage system, simply pour water into the hot tub and turn on the system until all the water is blown out of the system.

When choosing a massage system for your hot tub, there are a few points to consider:

• If you are sensitive to noise, a hydromassage system will be quieter than an air massage system.
• It is not recommended to use oil products, as they can clog nozzles and mechanisms, and some salts can cause rusting. Water-soluble products are best, but even these should be used in moderation.
• Bath foam can be used in small amounts. Otherwise, if you use large amounts, the massage system will quickly become clogged with foam.
